My current favorite wine: Cakebread Chardonnay 2006

Frequent readers of this blog will know that I like wine. I don’t claim to be an expert, I don’t claim to have a great palette, hell, I don’t even claim to have good taste. But right now the wine that is tasting awfully good to me is Cakebread’s 2006 Chardonnay. It is absolutely delicious.
To me I get a hint of green apples and just a little bit of oak. It is extremely smooth and easy to drink (which at $55 a bottle is a bad thing as I could go through a case much too quickly, although it is now on sale for under $40 a bottle!). It is frequently available in restaurants now by the glass, but at a steep $18-22 price. If you have an opportunity to try it, I would highly recommend checking it out.
A couple reviews of the wine:
