Update on Scarborough: a 7 second delay is in his future
We have a bit of an update to our potty-mouth Joe Scarborough story. According to Gawker, good ‘ol Joe is going to be under a 7 second delay to prevent him from dropping the f-bomb in the future.
Probably a smart move.

Did he ever acknowledge that he used the f-bomb? He seemed so non-chalant about the whole thing.

Acknowledge? Does one need to acknowledge something that is obvious?
Does McCain need to come out and say, “Hello, I’m a loser.”? No, of course not. It is already acknowledged.

When you put your network at risk of tremendous fine (and MSNBC is already in the shitter as far as ratings go), perhaps an on the air apology might be in order.
November 12th, 2008 10:17
Do apologies remove the fine?
November 12th, 2008 10:18
Do apologies ever remove the harm? Do you want to live in a world without remorse?
November 12th, 2008 10:19
You cited the fine as a reason to apologize.
Confused.
November 12th, 2008 10:23
Right. If you subject your organization to harm, an apology is appropriate, even if the damage is already done. It says, I understand that this was a stupid thing to do.
November 12th, 2008 10:24
If the ratings are in the crapper, as you suggest, then why apologize at all? Maybe this is precisely the type of edge that network needs.
FoxNews has their hate-spewing thing. Maybe MSNBC can be the edgy, we drop the f-bomb and don’t give bleep about FCC fines, network.
November 12th, 2008 10:25
Ha! MSNBC is in the crapper because it is so one-sided that people can’t stand to watch. FoxNews on the otherhand is actually balanced and thus people watch..that simple.
November 12th, 2008 10:27
LOL. MSNBC is in the crapper because they split the liberal audience with CNN, CNBC, NPR, etc. we’ve been through this. FoxNews works because it is the only right-wing heavy-conservative network.
November 12th, 2008 10:29
We disagree…but at least you admit the massive media bias to the left.
November 12th, 2008 10:30
Well here is where we’ll disagree: CNN is far more balanced than Fox News.
