Pro-life clergyman to give inaugural invocation
Per CNN. While this might irk some liberals, it doesn’t particularly bother me that this guy is pro-life. That’s a religious decision and Obama has stated that it’s not the government’s purpose to be involved in that call.
Supporting prop-8, however, is bothersome. I can appreciate why gay activists might be pissed about this.
I think Obama is a smooth operator who will try to build bridges, not knock them down. He needs to be careful, however, not to take that too far.

Obama is against gay “marriage” too (although he did say he was opposed to prop 8). And for Rick Warren, gay marriage is a religious thing as well…no different from abortion.

Right. Gay activists have been disappointed in Obama’s stance one gay marriage from the beginning.

So then he doesn’t have to be careful about this. He is a christian reaching out to one of the most prominent (and fairly moderate to liberal) christian leaders out there. This shouldn’t be a surprise move to anyone, especially the gay community.

What is fairly moderate or liberal about him? He doesn’t seem very liberal to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o4QqGbQmU0

Well, the social issues that he cares about are more than just the typical right-wing conservative issues.

Such as?

social justice issues, war on poverty…

Republicans are normally for poverty? Being against poverty makes you a liberal?
